Deborah Gersony
Fine Art
Deborah Gersony is an oil painter based in the New York area whose work explores shifting light, atmosphere, and a strong sense of place. Working in expressive realism, she divides her time between plein air painting and studio work, focusing on clarity of form and subtle color relationships.
A former physician, Gersony brings a careful, observant approach to seeing that informs her landscapes, seascapes, and animal studies. She continues to refine her practice through direct observation and ongoing study with contemporary painters whose work she admires.
Gersony is a Resident Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club and an Elected Artist Member of the American Artists Professional League (AAPL), where she previously served on the Board as Membership Director and Co-Director of the Grand National Exhibition. She is also a member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), the American Impressionist Society (AIS), and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS).
Her work has been included in juried exhibitions nationwide, including shows at AAPL, AIS, OPA, NOAPS, International Guild of Realism (IGOR), and the historic Salmagundi Club, and she has been a multiple-time finalist in the PleinAir Salon competition.
